The President of Menoufia University, Dr. Ahmed El-Kassed, confirmed that the university witnessed a development boom and giant construction projects during the era of the New Republic under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, at an investment cost amounting to one billion and 889 million pounds, including developing the university’s infrastructure, as well as establishing the building of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, and completing the building. The Faculty of Computers, Information and Artificial Intelligence, the establishment of a gymnastics hall in the Faculty of Physical Education in Shebin El-Kom, the basic sciences building in the Faculty of Engineering, the completion of the central library and the Faculty of Pharmacy and Dentistry, in addition to developing the oncology hospital building, the emergency hospital, and completing student housing in the female students’ city, in addition to establishing the Menoufia National University. The new one, at a cost of 3 billion and 600 million pounds, is spread over an area of ​​18 acres and includes 21 study programs to serve students from the governorate and neighboring governorates.

The university president explained, in a statement to the Middle East News Agency on Thursday, that the coming period is scheduled to witness the launch of an integrated medical city project that will include 8 hospitals at a total cost of 3 billion and 300 million pounds, which will contribute effectively to providing distinguished medical service to patients from the people of the governorate and other governorates. Neighboring, within the framework of the role played by the university in serving the community and developing the environment, and providing good educational services to students and medical services to those visiting university hospitals, the National Liver Institute, and the Shebin El-Kom Oncology Institute, in implementation of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the directives of the President of the Republic to develop higher education and the infrastructure of university institutions.

Dr. Al-Qasid said that Menoufia University, which will celebrate its annual anniversary on the twenty-fifth of next December, has witnessed a major educational and research boom that has placed it among the ranks of distinguished universities, under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, including obtaining ninth place locally and 28th at the national level. Africa is in the Scientific Impact Index of the Dutch Leiden Classification for the year 2024, and in 920th place in the world out of a total of 1,506 universities included in the same classification, in addition to the fact that 26 scientists from the university were included in Stanford’s list of the top 2% of the most cited scientists in the world in various specializations. .

The University President praised the important role of scientists and researchers in implementing the goals of sustainable development and their vital role in developing scientific research and its outcomes, and striving to implement partnerships with universities around the world in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his constant support for the development of higher education, in addition to the university’s inclusion in the general version of the British Times World Classification among 35. An Egyptian university… Pointing out at the same time that the Times classification is based on 13 performance indicators related to teaching, scientific research, knowledge transfer, and international questionnaires, which provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons between universities. The 2025 edition of the classification witnessed the evaluation of 2,092 universities from 115 countries around the world. He praised the university’s progress in international classifications.

He added that in addition to this, an office for research and scientific innovation will be established at the university during the coming period, to be a platform for nurturing and incubating applied entrepreneurial ideas and projects that contribute to solving industrial and other problems at the global level, which contributes to achieving the aspirations of Egypt’s Vision 2030, especially since the university’s strategy, Which includes 4,500 faculty members and supporting staff, and nearly 12,000 members of the administrative staff, always striving to develop and keep pace with everything new in all fields, as it does not only provide science, but is an institution that contributes to building humanity, which is the ultimate goal. For education, it is one of the main concepts on which the university relies.

He continued that the university facilities, in addition to the stadiums and laboratories, include many places, whether playgrounds or green surfaces, with the aim of providing an integrated educational environment. We are keen during the coming period to have new partnerships with many international universities, and major local and international companies and institutions, with the aim of informing all students about the latest developments. Al-Qasid explained that the university also sought to develop digital transformation mechanisms, the most important of which was preparing the technological infrastructure, integrating digital education into the educational program, keeping pace with changes in the world in digital education, and developing an effective plan in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education to reach an advanced smart university. He added that electronic platforms and electronic tests have been launched, and we have also developed so far 31 programs for the credit hour system in the university’s various colleges and institutes, in addition to approving the addition of good study programs in the university’s various colleges to keep pace with innovation and labor market requirements, such as the “Electrical Engineering, Computers, and New and Renewable Energy Program,” Mechatronics engineering, infrastructure engineering, water, renewable and sustainable energy, integrative medicine and surgery, communications and network engineering, biomedical engineering, technology, industrial control engineering (mechatronics), speech and cognitive sciences, translation in the English language, medical laboratories, device maintenance, radiology, dental prosthetics, optics, and other programs.”

He added: “The committee formed by faculty members, students and graduates of the university succeeded in implementing a project to archive and digitize documents and cases in the archives of the Shebin El-Kom Court and its affiliated district courts, where 346 thousand documents were archived and digitized, and remedial maintenance, digitization, and local and central archiving of them were carried out and submitted to them. The digital repository that was designed by the project in less than 4 months is within the framework of the university’s role in serving the nation and the surrounding community, and consolidating ways of continuous cooperation with the court and judicial bodies.”

Dr. Al-Qasid stressed that the university is striving to take serious steps to obtain institutional accreditation for all its health facilities, to ensure the provision of medical training, education, and medical service with the best local and international standards. He pointed out that the university’s National Liver Institute Hospital has obtained accreditation from the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control. The institute will be the first specialized health facility affiliated with the university to obtain accreditation.

He added that the National Liver Institute is one of the distinguished medical edifices that receives thousands of patients annually from Egypt and the Arab world to treat liver diseases and perform precise, highly skilled surgeries in the field of liver transplantation, surgery of the liver, bile ducts, pancreas, and digestive system, and which includes a distinguished elite of the most skilled professors and doctors of treatment, surgery, and transplantation. The liver also includes the latest diagnostic and therapeutic devices in the world, explaining that the coming period will witness the establishment of the new Oncology Institute, which will provide a distinguished therapeutic, diagnostic and research service for oncology patients in the governorate and neighboring governorates in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Dr. Al-Qasid continued that he has promising plans for a bright future for the university, after a plot of 200 acres was allocated to the university on the lands of Sadat City. The plan will include an extension of the National University, the establishment of new colleges, an international university and a technological university, lands for desert and non-traditional crops, research centers, and research centers. Specialized medical.

He noted that in addition to the university’s endeavor to develop learning, digital transformation applications, and scientific research, we participated with civil society in organizing comprehensive medical, veterinary, and environmental convoys in many presidential initiatives, including “A Decent Life,” which was launched by President Sisi to meet the needs of the most needy villages, and was implemented during that period. The convoys provide many activities and events and provide all means of medical, cultural, educational, veterinary and social care.

The university president said that protocols for international cooperation have been concluded with various international universities to exchange experiences in various types of sciences and different knowledge…and the huge strategic projects that we seek to complete and complete. Thanks to God, many of these projects have been achieved and have become a tangible reality on the university grounds, which has had the greatest impact. In presenting the university to the world in a way befitting a unique scientific and research institution, Menoufia National University was opened at kilometer 70 of the Cairo-Alexandria Agricultural Road. It is designed and equipped according to the latest specifications. The university president added: “We are keen on training for all employees and faculty members, through developing the faculty capacity development center and mechanisms for providing training services, adding new programs for graduate students, and new training programs in the center’s matrix of programs and courses, which is the international publishing and research program.” Scientific research, scientific research ethics, scientific plagiarism, scientific research methods, and project-based research reference management systems, in addition to preparing a training package for new teaching assistants to qualify them to perform their role as a university teacher, including the basic rules and skills required for the job.

Regarding international students, Dr. Al-Qasid said that the university is keen to attract Arab and African students to study in the university’s faculties, noting the university’s interest in the conditions of all international students, and providing them with the necessary medical and social support and care, especially since they are considered ambassadors for Egypt in the field of education. The university is also working to qualify These students by providing a distinguished level of education and applying educational quality standards for the benefit of the graduate during his academic and practical life, in line with the vision and goals of the state and in support of the presidential initiative “Study in Egypt” so that Egypt becomes the largest distinguished educational center in the Middle East.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Qasid announced the approval of Menoufia University’s request to join the Egyptian Pioneers and Scholars Program “the second batch,” and said that the grants during the program’s activities will include several fields, including “water and energy, agriculture, climate change, nursing, tourism, heritage, industry, trade and business.” Logistics, supply chains, public health, media, engineering, computers, artificial intelligence, and science.” These programs also include many initiatives to enhance interaction between students and decision-makers in society, and motivate them to actively participate in community service and environmental development.

He explained that the “Egyptian Pioneers and Scholars” program is implemented by the American University in Cairo, while AMIDEAST implements the government scholarship program, sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with the support of the United States Agency for International Development. Students at the university level are selected from all governorates of Egypt, with Keenness to promote diversity, equality, inclusion, and inclusion of women and people with disabilities, stressing Menoufia University’s keenness to seek these training scholarships due to their importance in providing distinguished educational opportunities for students.

He pointed to the university’s effective role in liberating citizens from illiteracy and the participation of its students in the presidential initiative “Egypt Without Illiteracy” within the activities of the Presidential Initiative, A Decent Life, in light of the support of the efforts of the Egyptian state under the leadership of President Sisi and his constant endeavor to improve the level of all services provided to the most needy villages.

He said that the university succeeded in liberating about 90,111 male and female citizens from illiteracy, since 2014 until now, in all the villages and cities of Menoufia Governorate, in cooperation with the General Authority for the Eradication of Illiteracy and Adult Education, Menoufia Branch, including about 4,744 male and female citizens in the July 2024 session. Stressing that eradicating illiteracy represents a national issue that must be confronted and eliminated, within the framework of the university’s social and national responsibility towards the nation.
